SWANA Safety

SWANA Pacific Chapter Safety Ambassador

SWANA Pacific is pleased to introduce our Safety Ambassador, Kevin Johnstone.

Kevin has been involved with SWANA for 7 years, first as a student member then as a YP and also the YP committee head. He has been working as an Environmental Engineering Technologist for Ecowaste Industries for 4 years. He became involved with SWANA after connecting with some members at a networking session after a conference. Those connections helped Kevin complete his undergraduate thesis at BCIT, graduate, and find his first job in the industry doing waste audits.

Kevin values SWANA as an organization that allows him to continue to make new connections, learn about the industry, and participate in conferences. He looking forward to serving the SWANA BC/Yukon chapter throughout his career in solid waste.

Hauler Safety Outreach

Solid waste collection workers are receiving the same safety resources from SWANA at Hauler Safety Outreach events across North America. These efforts are meant to provide valuable safety materials to the haulers who visit facilities every day who face serious risk of injury and fatality. Collecting waste and recyclables is the 5th most dangerous job in the United States and is very hazardous in other countries as well.
