SWANA Pacific is pleased to introduce our Safety Ambassador, Kevin Johnstone.

Kevin has been involved with SWANA for 7 years, first as a student member then as a YP and also the YP committee head. He has been working as an Environmental Engineering Technologist for Ecowaste Industries for 4 years. He became involved with SWANA after connecting with some members at a networking session after a conference. Those connections helped Kevin complete his undergraduate thesis at BCIT, graduate, and find his first job in the industry doing waste audits.

Kevin values SWANA as an organization that allows him to continue to make new connections, learn about the industry, and participate in conferences. He looking forward to serving the SWANA BC/Yukon chapter throughout his career in solid waste.

The global situation regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve on a daily basis.  Thankfully the transmission risk level in BC and the Yukon remains low at this time, but here are some basic steps you can take to protect yourself, and ideas on how businesses can protect their staff: What you can do to protect yourself: Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, don’t touch your face and cover your cough or sneeze. Monitor yourself for symptoms, including cough, sneezing, fever, sore throat and difficulty breathing. Call the public health line at 8-1-1 if you have symptoms, particularly if you have recently travelled abroad. Stay home when you are sick. How employers can protect their employees and customers: Stay on top of the latest communication by reputable global health authorities and keep staff informed of any changes and updates. Announcing Our New SWANA Pacific Chapter Safety Ambassador

SWANA Pacific is pleased to welcome our new Safety Ambassador. Lynne Vidler is a Senior Project Engineer at Metro Vancouver with nearly 12 years of experience in the Solid Waste field. Prior to starting with Metro Vancouver, Lynne spent 10 years in the pulp and paper industry, working at mills in Port Alberni, Powell River and Delta. Throughout her career she has been actively involved in safety and emergency management and is looking forward to working with SWANA members on safety initiatives in our region.
