Your Training Committee is planning to expand its faculty by adding one or more instructors for Landfill Operations Basics (LOB). This certificate level course empowers supervisors and operators with critical knowledge for operating their landfills safely and efficiently.
Becoming an instructor with SWANA Pacific is a rewarding way to share learnings, build your network, enhance your technical and presentation skills, and play a direct role in advancing the responsible management of solid waste in BC.
We’re looking for members in the private and public sector that may have experience in landfill design and operations, in a technical or supervisory role, or those with a passion and proven ability to engage adults in classroom and field settings. LOB will be offered virtually in March, and in class in fall, with one of our seasoned Instructors as the lead for each. This will serve as an opportunity for training and easing into the role. The level of involvement for lesson instruction will be dependent on experience and comfort level. Lesson material will be provided in advance for preparation. We have a Compensation Policy in place, as well as Guidelines for Instructors, to recognize Instructors for their efforts and ensure expectations for before, during and after course Instruction are clear. Both documents are available for review upon request.
We would prefer a commitment of 2 years, which will include instructing the course 2 or more times locally (includes the course this fall), with opportunities available to travel for course instruction in other areas of the province. Travel is not mandatory.
We are aiming to have the position(s) filled by late February, to allow time for preparation for the spring course.
If you would like to apply to become an Instructor, please submit an email by Wednesday, February 23, 2022 to info@swanabc.org outlining why you would like to join our Faculty and what you will bring to the role. We welcome any questions and can also connect you with existing Instructors for further discussion.
Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
