SWANA Fatalities Report for the First Half of 2021

By September 23, 2021News, Safety

SWANA has issued a press release announcing industry fatality numbers for the first half of 2021, reporting that on-the-job worker fatalities have decreased by 50% in 2021 compared to the previous three years in the United States and Canada. While this is encouraging news, third party accidents, where a member of the public is killed in a solid waste related accident, remain the same in 2021 compared to previous years.

Sadly there was a third party fatality in BC in August when a pedestrian was hit by a garbage truck in Surrey. You can see SWANA’s press release here, which encourages frontline workers to stay vigilant when it comes to driving safely.
