Prior to starting with Metro Vancouver, Lynne spent 10 years in the pulp and paper industry, working at mills in Port Alberni, Powell River and Delta. Throughout her career she has been actively involved in safety and emergency management and is looking forward to working with SWANA members on safety initiatives in our region.

Metro Vancouver is investigating the potential to develop a facility at the Coquitlam Landfill to process waste dropped off at transfer stations from small vehicles (pick-up trucks, trailers, vans etc.), with the potential to supplement the small vehicle waste with construction and demolition waste. Small vehicle waste is approximately 55% wood and is therefore highly suitable for recovery of alternative fuel and recyclable materials. The project could result in greenhouse gas emission reductions of 70,000 to 85,000 tonnes per year through the use of alternative fuels in facilities such as cement plants, district energy systems and pulp mills.
