The Membership Committee is actively searching for a new chair and volunteers to participate on our committee. One member of the committee shall be a member of the Chapter’s Executive Committee. Other members may include Chapter Directors and, more importantly, members-at-large. All committee members are welcome. We are looking for the committee membership to be inclusive and diverse.
The committee is mainly responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of membership recruitment and retention programs, membership orientation and recognition programs.
As per the Terms of Reference, the Membership Committee shall consist of up to six members.
Membership committee activities currently include:
- Reviewing the chapter membership list from SWANA on a regular basis;
- Adding new member names in the SWANA Pacific Chapter e-newsletter;
- Sending to each new member a SWANA-developed New Membership Orientation PowerPoint presentation that has been adapted for our Pacific Chapter;
- Reviewing SWANA’s list of soon-to-be lapsed members and contacting them to remind them of membership renewal.
The Committee is seeking at least 2 new members, and specifically a computer savvy individual who can provide a monthly “Membership Dashboard” that provides an easy-to-read summary of information such as new members, YP members, top ten member organizations, top ten cities of members, etc.
SWANA International has a plethora of resources that is available to chapters helpful. This information is very helpful in both new member recruitment, recognition and retention.
While Membership Committee meetings were once held frequently, this has not occurred for some time and the Pacific Chapter Board is interested in resurrecting a more active committee. Meetings may be held in person and/or by conference call.
Being on the Membership Committee is a great way to get more involved with our SWANA Pacific Chapter and can be an opportunity to move up to the Board of Directors.
