Environment and Climate Change Canada that the government has officially accepted the Basel Convention plastic waste amendments that went into effect on 1/1/21. Canada will now need prior informed consent from importing countries before shipping certain types of plastic scrap and is forbidden from trading with non-Basel Convention countries without a special agreement.
