The SWANA Pacific Training Committee is expanding its Faculty by adding one or more Instructors for the Transfer Station Management (TSM) Course. This SWANA certification level course empowers Solid Waste directors/supervisors, Transfer Station managers, developers and consulting engineers with critical knowledge for the planning, design, operation and management of a transfer station. View PDF course description for more details on the course. Closes: April 6, 2023.

Becoming an Instructor with SWANA Pacific is a rewarding way to share learnings, build your network, enhance your technical and presentation skills, and play a direct role in advancing the responsible management of solid waste in BC & Yukon and beyond.

We’re looking for members in the private and public sector that have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in transfer station management and/or design, as well as a passion and proven ability to engage audiences of up to 20 people in classroom and field settings. TSM will be offered in person in the lower mainland in June. This will serve as an opportunity for training and easing into the role. The degree of involvement for lesson instruction will be dependent on experience and comfort level. Lesson material will be provided in advance for preparation. We have a Remuneration and Expenses Policy in place for training, as well as Guidelines for Instructors. Both documents are available for review upon request.

We would prefer a commitment of 2-3 years, which will include instructing the course 2 or more times locally (includes the course this spring). Opportunities may also be available to travel for course instruction in other areas if this is of interest.

We are aiming to have the position(s) filled by late-April, to allow time for preparation for the spring offering.

To apply to become an Instructor, please email us at info@swanabc.org by Thursday, April 6, 2023. Include why you are interested in joining our Faculty and what experience you have that is relevant to the role. We welcome any questions and can also connect you with existing Instructors for further discussion.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
