Thursday March 26    Day 1 – Organics Management & EPR

Organics Management is a hot topic throughout BC and the Yukon.  There is a great deal of work to do as municipalities advance their systems.  The purpose of these sessions during Day 1 is to review the latest in policy and diversion programs, collection, processing and end markets.  Additionally, we will have updates on the latest in programs and policies within the Province through representative of the BC MOE and Product Stewards.

Friday March 27  Day 2 – Mixed Material MRFs, Flow Control & What Does this All Mean?

During SWANA Day last fall, there were many questions and concerns for and against Mixed Material MRFs being constructed in BC along with the legislated control of the flow of our solid waste.  Now that time has passed and Bylaw 280 has been rejected, Day 2 will focus on the further discussion of these two contentious issues.  During our final session, we will focus on the input gained from previous sessions and a dialogue with Young Professionals about the existing solid waste system in their thoughts on how it should be improved. We also have a panel of experienced thought-leaders who will comment on unresolved issues, any interdependent effects in programs throughout the Province, in the future of solid waste management.
