The Ministry of Environment is inviting affected parties to review and comment on an intentions paper for the solid waste management planning guideline. This intentions paper has been released as a public discussion paper. The current guideline has been in place since 1994. It was developed to provide guidance for regional districts on legislative requirements for solid waste management planning. It requires modernizing to reflect current legislation, the current municipal solid waste landscape, and the experience and expertise of regional districts and sector stakeholders.
