British Columbians are invited to review and comment on a newly released discussion paper that considers the ideas, values and priorities they want to see in a new climate action plan. The public will have two opportunities over the next six months to participate in shaping new climate policies in B.C. The Pacific – BC & Yukon Chapter of SWANA is proud to announce that it will be offering our Landfill Operations Basics (LOB) on Vancouver Island at The Westin Bear Mountain Resort & Spa directly before the CWMA Annual Conference, October 19 and 20 with the exam the morning of October 21, 2015. This is a first for SWANA BC and CWMA! Participants will have the opportunity to attend the SWANA event and stay on for the CWMA conference October 21 to 23, 2015.
On May 21, 2015 the Ministry of Environment announced that it will be updating the Guide for the Preparation of Regional Solid Waste Management Plans (guideline). The ministry plans on releasing an intentions paper in September 2015 outlining proposed changes to the guideline, which the public, local government and stakeholders will be able to comment on.
