If you are a landfill manager or operator you might be interested in a great training opportunity that is coming up August 24th and 25th in Terrace, BC. The Regional District of Kitimat Stikine is working with SWANA and Tony Sperling of Landfill Fire Control Inc. to present a two day training session on landfill fires in order to better prepare their Fire Department and Operations staff to manage fire risks at their new landfill facility at Forceman Ridge.
The course will include one day of theory and a half day of field practice. The RDKS has graciously agreed to open up to the course to staff from other regional districts and Fire Departments. The maximum number of participants is 40. As a result, the course costs are exceptionally low at only $100 (plus GST) per participant. If you are interested in participating, please contact Alda Nicmans at SWANA BC [email protected] or Megan Glover at RDKS Megan Glover [email protected] for further information.
