
The City of Vancouver is seeking a Senior Engineer, Environmental Programs (Closing date: July 30, 2020)
This role is a key leadership position within the Transfer & Landfill Operations Branch and responsible for overseeing a variety of programs and projects to help achieve the City’s goals for Zero Waste. This position has a focus on health, safety and the environment, and key areas of work include ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, overseeing disposal and recycling programs at the City’s transfer station and landfill, and providing technical support to the Branch occupational health and safety committee. Duties include liaising with technical, management and administrative staff on system analysis, optimization, and performance monitoring; developing and managing consulting projects, contracts and procurement processes; leading or liaising with stakeholders on initiatives that relate to branch operations, programs and policies; and supervising related staff.
This position reports to the Branch Manager, Transfer & Landfill Operations and works closely with the Branch management team. Other key stakeholders include senior Engineering Services Staff, other City branches and departments, including Supply Chain Management, Finance and Legal Services, Real Estate and Facilities Management, etc., as well as the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Metro Vancouver, City of Delta and other external stakeholders.
