Early in October, the New York Times published an opinion piece, “The Reign of Recycling,” which took issue with recycling in the United States. SWANA promptly submitted a letter to the editor to the Times and also teamed with the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) and Keep America Beautiful (KAB) to develop a joint response. The Times declined to print either response. The more detailed joint response is being distributed today to nearly 50 newspapers and trade publications across the United States and is now posted on our webpage.
