The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is seeking an Environmental Management Officer (closes April 30, 2020).
This position will lead and guide the development of ministry and/or provincial legislation, policy, and technical standards in municipal waste management, including reduction, recycling, treatment and disposal technologies, towards the achievement of Environmental Protection Division priority goals and objectives.
As the Environmental Management Officer, you are responsible for research, analysis, development and implementation of ministry and/or provincial policy, strategies, regulations, legislation and standards in the area of municipal waste management in B.C. Current examples include the administration of the Landfill Gas Management Regulation, Municipal Wastewater Regulation and the Organic Matter Recycling Regulation developing tools and guidelines for solid and liquid waste management planning including initiatives for the prevention of plastic waste and food waste, landfill management and liquid waste treatment. The section works with a wide variety of stakeholders including local government, private waste sector, environmental stakeholders, planners, developers and Indigenous Nations to develop and enhance environmental stewardship in waste management in BC.
