The SWANA Pacific – BC & Yukon Board of Directors is a committed group of volunteers, driven to advancing the waste and resource industry as we confront key challenges like climate change, workforce development, on-the-job safety, and infrastructure improvements. As part of a North American network of waste and resource professionals, our Chapter brings vital, local expertise to the table through training, conferences, and networking events. We’re also strong advocates, working with senior government levels to push for the policies and programs our industry needs to thrive.Our Pacific Chapter contributes to the global goals of the Solid Waste Association of North America through committee involvement and regional representation on the international board. Since 1994, over $65,000 has been awarded to students studying solid waste management across BC and the Yukon.These $1,500 scholarships honor Stuart Somerville, a dedicated SWANA Pacific Chapter member.
