Visit the Lil’wat Nations Mount Currie Transfer Station, a community-run recycling hub; Whistler Transfer Station & Compost Facility, turning organic waste into soil amendments; and Regional Recycling – Nesters, a local depot for containers, electronics, and household recyclables. Learn about zero-waste initiatives, sustainable practices, and community-led environmental programs. The tour includes bus transport, a light snack and returns to the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa by 4:30 PM, offering an informative look at regional recycling and composting efforts. Wednesday, May 13 – This walking tour begins at the Hilton Whistler Resort & Spa and explores Whistler Village highlights. Visit F as in Frank, a curated vintage clothing store, followed by a photo opportunity at Whistler Olympic Plaza. Next visit Lost Lake Passivhaus, an ultra-energy-efficient building showcasing leading green design. The tour concludes by exploring the evolution of the Whistler Blackcomb Mountain where a 1960s Olympic vision turned into one of North America’s largest ski resorts. Friday, May 15 – The What We Treasure Tour at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre introduces Indigenous values of stewardship, respect, and sustainability through guided storytelling and cultural interpretation. Participants learn how the Squamish and Lil’wat Nations honour land, resources, and community, highlighting traditional knowledge, cultural artifacts, and contemporary perspectives. The tour underscores long-term environmental responsibility and the deep connection between people and place, offering valuable insight into Indigenous leadership in sustainability and resource management.
